About the Artist

A small gouache and colored pencil painting on paper showing delicate, soft-hued blossoms nestled among rich green leaves. The composition feels intimate and close-up, like a hidden corner of a spring bouquet. The colors are fresh and grounding, capturing a quiet hunger for renewal and beauty. A piece that celebrates the earliest signs of life returning.

I paint small, in gouache, with colored pencil, pan pastels, and Neocolor layered in when a piece calls for it. Most of my work lives at 3x3 and 5x7. Small isn’t a starting point for me. It’s the size the work is supposed to be, until a subject asks for more room — those pieces go up to 9x12.

I’m self-taught, and I taught elementary school before I taught myself to paint. I’m disabled, and I work inside my actual capacity, not against it. I’m raising teenagers, so most of what I paint happens in whatever time is left over.

I paint the moments where my own nervous system finally settles down. Lately that’s sky through leaves, strawberry plants at work, ordinary light doing something worth stopping for. If I can catch that feeling on paper, I’m hoping you can feel it too.
